Ronan Acrylic Water Based Glazes are
transparent, ultraviolet resistant color blending agents and wiping
glazes designed for use in creating interior decorative finishes.
They are formulated for use by furniture refinishers, specialty
painters, and scenic artists to create a variety of decorative
special effects i.e., antiquing, wood graining, sponging,
combing, marbling and rag rolling. Intended for use as a faux
paint finish on walls, furniture, art projects, etc. Used to make
stains or glazes for wet-in-wet techniques to create artistic
effects, including but not limited to dirt, age, smoke damage,
etc. They dry to a durable matte finish. They contain ultra
violet absorbers and therefore help prevent color fading
on interior surfaces that will be exposed to sun light (near doors,
windows, etc). These glazes are formulated to be mixed with
most universal colorant systems, such as DeGussa 888
colorants or equivalent. Ronan Aqua Cote water based
enamel and industrial based colorants, such as DeGussa 896
colorants. Use colorants with a high ph value (7.5 - 8.5). Ronan
Acrylic Water Based Glazes are available in four types
Ultra Glaze, Deluxe Glaze, Pro Glaze and Quick Set Glaze.
WORKING TIME: Lab Testing
Results - The following are results achieved
in the T. J. Ronan Lab over a sealed surface with 6
oz. of Huls 888 colorant added. The actual working
time will depend on temperature, humidity and the type
and amount of colorant used. Working Time and Recoat
Time will be longer under colder and/or more humid conditions
and shorter under warmer and/or less humid conditions. Working
time will be shorter over a surface that is not sealed. Coating
can be removed with isopropyl alcohol up to 2 hours after application.
To extend working time at higher temperatures add Ronan Acrylic Glaze Extender
Base.
1. - ULTRA GLAZE is a high viscosity glaze and has
the longest working time. For large jobs in warmer weather
that require long open time.
Test #1 - @ 70° F, 50% relative humidity,
Working Time - 70 minutes
Test #2 - @ 85° F. Working Time - 25 minutes.
Allow minimum 36 hours curing time before applying clear top
coat.
2. - DELUXE GLAZE is similar to Ultra
Glaze in working time,
but has a slightly thinner consistency.
Allow minimum 36 hours curing time before
applying clear top coat.
3. - PRO GLAZE is a high viscosity like Ultra Glaze, but has
a slightly shorter working time. For use on large jobs that
require long open time.
Test #1 - @ 70° F, 50% relative humidity, Working
Time - 50 minutes
Test #2 - @ 85° F. Working Time - 15 to 20 minutes.
Allow minimum 36 hours curing time before applying clear top
coat.
4. - QUICK SET GLAZE has a short working time. Allows for top coating the same
day. Intended for use on small jobs. Use on small wall areas, furniture, art
projects, etc.
Test #1 - @ 70° F, 50% relative humidity, Working Time -
15 minutes
Test #2 - @ 85° F. Working Time - 5 minutes.
Allow minimum 8 hours curing time before applying clear top
coat.
Test temperature was maintained for an 8 hour period.
CLEAR COATING: Interior use - clear coat with Aqua
Leaf Clear Guard. Exterior use - refer to product technical sheet.
IMPORTANT!! Before using clear top
coats perform a patch test 1.) to test adhesion 2.) to
determine if the clear causes any cracking or lifting of
the surface coating and 3.) to determine that the clear gives the
desired finish (It is especially important to test for clarity over
dark colors). Before using any of the products recommended read
the technical data sheet on those products.

color degradation by reducing the effects of harmful ultraviolet
rays which cause premature fading. Formulated for use over
decorative paint work (faux designs, murals, etc.) on a
variety of different painted substrates (see Precautions
on Technical data sheet) ( vinyl, wood, metal, plaster,
glass, plastic and many synthetics). Ideal for use over

(near doors, windows, etc). Cures to a non-yellowing finish
and therefore can be used directly on pictures, murals,
portraits. Non-Flammable, non-toxic when cured, low odor.
